Fibroids are one of the common problems that occur in 50% of the females now a days. Fibroids are also Most commonly known by other name's such as -
- Leiomyomas
- Myomas
- Uterine Myomas
- Fibromas
It is also proved that up to 80% of the women's have been diagnosed with fibroids at about 50 years of age, and most of the women don't have any symptoms and also does not know they have fibroids.
Types of fibroids:-
There are basically four type of fibroids that develops in a women and this depends on the location in or on the uterus.
1) Intramural Fibroids- these are the one of the most common type of fibroids, intramural fibroids appear within the muscular wall of the uterus intramural fibroids can grow larger and is also responsible to stretch the womb.
2) Subserosal Fibroids- these fibroids generally form on the outside of the uterus which is also called as serosa. Beef fibroids main grow large enough that they can make the womb to appear bigger on one side.
3) Pedunculated Fibroids- these are the tumors that can develop a stem these act as a slender base that supports the tumor. When these fibroids do so they are known as Pedunculated fibroids.
4) Submucosal Fibroids- these are the type of tumors that develop in the middle muscle layer or the myometrium of the uterus, submucosal fibroids are also most commonly found in women.
Causes of fibroids-
The uterine fibroid is an unpredictable condition that gets severe over the time if left untreated in women's. Here are some of the most common causes of uterine fibroids-
- Hormones - The main two hormones that are responsible to stimulate the development of uterine lining during pregnancy and menstrual cycles are oestrogen and progesterone, are more likely to appear in the promotion of overgrown fibroids. It is often observed that after the menopause the fibroids tend to shrink due to lack of production of these hormones.
- Genetic changes - Many of the fibroids contains a sudden change in genes that is often observed in some of the womens that is different from normal uterine muscle cells these changes in genetics can cause fibroids.
- Family history - The fibroids may run in the family. If in the family there is a history e off fibrosus to your mother sister and grandmother there are high chances you also may develop it as well.

- Practicing safe intercourse
- Controlling of weight
- Adding fruits and vegetables to your diet
- Using hormonal contraceptives
- Adding on micros like vitamin C, E and K.
- Gonadotropin- releasing hormone(GnRH) agonists:- these helps in blocking the production of estrogen and progesterone, and put them in temporary menopause like stage.
- Progestin- releasing intrauterine device(IUD):- these help in relieving extra bleeding that is caused by fibroids.
- Tranexamic acid:- these are the non hormonal medication that is taken to ease the heavy menstrual periods.
- Hysteroscopy - this is the procedure done by inserting a scope in the vagina and the cervix into the uterus this is used to cut away the fibroids using the scope.
- Laparoscopy- this procedure also includes using of scope to remove the fibroids but in this procedure there are few small in seasons done in the abdominal region to enter and exit the scope this procedure is generally accomplished by assistant of Robot.
